Dr. Wadha Alfouzan obtained her medical degree at Faculty of medicine, Kuwait university. Then she followed her passion by becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologist, UK, in medical microbiology. She has a master’s degree in medical Mycology from University College London. she is also an Associate professor at Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University.
Dr. Alfouzan held the position of Head of Laboratory Medicine in Farwania hospital, from 2015 till 2018 and the Head of the Microbiology Unit from 2012 until 2022. She is currently a consultant microbiologist at the same hospital.
Dr. Alfouzan has been practicing clinical microbiology and mycology for over 15 years focusing primarily on multidrug resistant organism, healthcare associated infection and candidemia.
She received many awards including Kuwait Fund for Advancement of Science (KFAS) Jaber Al Ahmad Young Researchers Award for 2020.
Dr. Alfouzan has published over 90 articles in esteemed journals.
